Board Resolution: Adoption of Racially Nondiscriminatory Policy
Thrush Hill Music Inc.
WHEREAS, Thrush Hill Music Inc. (the "Organization") operates as a nonprofit music school providing musical instruction and education to the community of Juneau, Alaska; and
WHEREAS, the Organization is recognized as a tax-exempt entity under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and is classified as an educational organization under Section 170(b)(1)(A)(ii); and
WHEREAS, IRS Revenue Procedure 75-50 requires every private school to formally adopt a racially nondiscriminatory policy as to students in its governing instruments or through a formal resolution of its governing body;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Directors hereby adopts the following official policy of nondiscrimination:
"Thrush Hill Music Inc. admits students of any race, color, age, disability, religion, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, disability, religion, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and other school-administered programs."
RESOLVED FURTHER, that this policy shall be included in all future revisions of the Organization’s Bylaws and shall be published annually in accordance with IRS requirements, either through a notice in a newspaper of general circulation or by prominent display on the Organization’s primary public website. RESOLVED FURTHER, that the officers of the Organization are authorized and directed to take all necessary actions to ensure the Organization operates in a bona fide manner consistent with this policy, including the maintenance of records required by Section 7 of Rev. Proc. 75-50.
